Will LAN Centers be the Stadiums of the Future?
In the digital age, connectivity plays a significant role. It allows us to chat with people at any corner of the world and stay in touch on a regular basis. Social media, instant messaging, FaceTime are all exceptional tools.
However, even in such a hyper-connected reality, there still remains the desire for physical proximity. Ask any gamer who gets into esports and they’ll tell you that connection with friends and a sense of belonging is what they crave.
So, we are sitting in front of a computer all day in global servers with million other gamers begging for appreciation for our fine gaming while feeling the loneliness of an empty room that slowly drags our soul out. This is the reason why LAN centers are the life-giving beacon and emotional balm for esports.
There are nearly 650 LAN centers in the United States which allows gamers to fine tune their skills, while 90 percent of the LAN centers in the world are in China, the largest one has over 1777 seats. It’s like a stadium that allows gamers to enjoy online gaming without feeling the loneliness of an empty space.
The Beacon of Hope
It’s fair to say that many lives have been saved by terrestrial sports. Many football players give credit to the discipline and structure of football for saving them from despair and poverty. The same goes for LAN centers.
In the gaming world, you’ll find many stories of gamers who were given hope by the environment of LAN centers. That feeling of being in a place where others give respect to your gaming skills and everything you accomplish is precious. Only, we gamers who play in LAN centers can feel that adrenaline rush and sense of accomplishment that runs through our soul when we win a game for our team. Ah! Yes, you’re feeling it, right.
LAN centers are the place where you can put your courage and anticipation, the place you hold so divine and holy that you’re willing to forgo worldly obligations and pleasures just so others would worship you as a hero.
Connectivity is amazing as it allows us to barricade ourselves in our strongholds with only one cable to connect with the whole virtual world. But, the need for personal interaction still drives us to step outside from our strongholds to feel all the energy that comes from being in a physical space with others.
That is the reason LAN centers will continue to grow and soon they’ll become the stadiums of the future. All the esports tournaments will take place in LAN centers providing gamers a sense of belonging they’ve always desired.
While we attempt to make everything automated and remote, the very nature of human being to crave physical interaction with other human beings with similar desires and needs will remain the same. And LAN centers will be there to attend to those needs.
